WHAT ON EARTH is ARGAN OIL?

WHAT ON EARTH is ARGAN OIL?

The oil is derived from the kernels of the Argan tree, it has been used for centuries by Moroccan people for cosmetic & culinary use. It is made through a traditional cold-pressing process that retains the oil's natural properties.

  • Argan oil is native to south western Morocco, Africa. The oil is sourced from fair trade, women owned cooperatives that support and sustain the lives of the local Amazigh women.

  • Argan oil is a golden-yellow coloured oil with a light nutty, earthy scent. The oil is lightweight and has a silky, non-greasy texture that absorbs quickly into the skin or hair offering nourishing and moisturising results.

  • Argan oil is composed of a number of different fatty acids, including oleic acid, linoleic acid as well as tocopherols (vitamin E).

It is rich in essential nutrients, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds making this a perfect vegan skincare option.

  • You’re probably wondering what Amazigh is, or you’ve seen some symbols jotted around our site.

The Imazighen, are an indigenous ethnic group native to North Africa, primarily Morocco. It is estimated they make up over 60% of the population and Tamazight is recognised as an official language alongside Arabic.

    ⴰⴱⵟⵟⴰⵏ is SKIN in Tamazight.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Skincare for the face typically involves a daily routine that cleanses, exfoliates, moisturizes, and protects the skin.
  • Argan oil helps lock in Moisture and protects the face, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin texture and tone. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe skin irritation and reduce redness.

  • A few drops onto the palm of your hand or directly onto your face. Massage gently. You can use it in the morning and/or before bed.

  • Apply on damp skin to lock in the moisture or right after you apply your moisturiser.

I (PEAU founder) use it to remove my makeup. I wet some cotton pads with warm water and squeeze any excess out. I then add a few drops onto each cotton pad and wipe my makeup off. It’s AMAZING for mascara and brow gel removal!

Skincare for the body involves a daily routine to keep skin hydrated, healthy, and free from dryness, rashes, and other skin conditions.
  • Likewise to facial benefits, Argan oil locks moisture which can help hydrate and nourish your body. Its high content of fatty acids and vitamin E can help improve skin texture, restore elasticity, and protect against environmental stressors. Its absorbs quickly, making it a great daily add-on to your skin routine.

  • Apply on damp skin or after moisturising, and give yourself a massage, spend some time on it, you deserve it!

    Other uses:

Argan can also be used on your cuticles. You can also add a few drops to a bath to soften skin.

  • Argan oil is widely used in Morocco when going to the Hamam, also known as a traditional communal steam bath. Women often incorporate Argan oil into their Hamam routine by using it as a moisturising oil after the exfoliation process.

This ones for the people that love a body shimmer!

    • Apply some below your neck area and shoulders to add a little shimmer when wearing a low cut outfit.

  • Argan oil can improve the health and appearance of the hair. It can protect hair from styling damage; smooth and add shine; reduce frizz and flyaways; and repair split ends. The oil is easily absorbed into the hair shaft, helping to strengthen and nourish hair from the inside out. It can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment, a leave-in conditioner, or a styling product, making it a versatile and effective hair care ingredient.

  • There are many ways you can use Argan oil for your hair.

Beard growers: Add a few drops to your beard or moustache to keep it shiny and encourage hair growth.

Hair (All types): Massage into scalp (again, a few drops, or as much as you need). It is also recommended to apply on hair from root to tip.

    • It can be applied to hair as a leave-in treatment, a pre-shampoo treatment, or as a styling product.

  • Argan oil is great on dyed hair. Make sure to nourish your hair with oils and conditioners to prevent any further damage to your hair after dyeing.

Spend a few minutes a day to massage your scalp!
